What Are BBL Laser Treatments?

BBL, or BroadBand Light, Laser Treatments represent a non-invasive and cutting-edge approach to skincare. As a groundbreaking innovation in the field of aesthetic medicine, BBL technology uses light energy to target and treat various skin imperfections. This treatment is renowned for addressing issues such as pigmentation, sun damage, and uneven skin texture, making it a favored choice among those seeking rejuvenation without surgery.

How Do BBL Laser Treatments Work?

BBL technology operates through the delivery of light energy to the skin’s deeper layers, stimulating the production of collagen, a key protein responsible for skin’s firmness and elasticity. A Brazilian butt lift (BBL) has become an increasingly popular cosmetic procedure over the past few years. But like any procedure, it’s important to know what it entails, how to prepare for it, and what the recovery period looks like after. Knowing more about BBL can help you determine if it’s right for you.

Understand What A Brazilian Butt Lift Is

The Brazilian butt lift (BBL) is a cosmetic procedure that involves transferring fat from other parts of the body into the buttocks. This changes the size, fullness, and shape of the area. The fat can come from the thighs, abdomen, lower back, or hips.

The whole procedure is a two-step process including liposuction and then the transfer or injection. The first step involves the surgeon performing liposuction on the area where the fat is being removed. The fat is then purified and injected into the buttocks to add volume and shape.

Prepare for BBL Surgery

The success of the BBL procedure can depend on how you prepare for the surgery. beforehand. There are a few things you can do to ensure you’re ready for BBL surgery including:

  • Plan A Ride: Because you’ll be put under sedation, you won’t be able to drive yourself home after the procedure. Plan to have a friend, spouse, or family member drive you home. Additionally, if you have kids that need to be taken care of, make sure to arrange for that as well.
  • Pick Your Outfit: On the day of surgery, wear the most comfortable outfit you own and make sure it’s easy to take on and off. You won’t want anything tight or restrictive after the procedure.
  • Don’t Eat or Drink Before: Like with most procedures, you won’t want to eat or drink 24 hours before BBL surgery. Because you’ll be placed under anesthesia, having any food or drink in your stomach increases the risk of aspiration (food or liquid getting into your lungs).
  • Avoid Certain Medications: You’ll want to avoid any blood thinner medications. This includes aspirin, warfarin, ibuprofen, fish oil supplements, and garlic supplements.
  • Maintain an active and healthy lifestyle: Staying physically active and keeping a healthy lifestyle before the procedure can significantly help in your recovery.

Stick to the Post-BBL Recovery Instructions

After surgery, you’ll want to take note of any and all instructions your surgeon gives you. But besides the instructions, they will also provide a compression band to reduce bleeding and swelling and some pain medication to help with any discomfort.

When they allow you to go home, you’ll need someone to drive you home and take care of you for at least the first 24 hours.

You also won’t be able to sit or lie down on your back. You don’t want to pull or open any stitches or incisions. You’ll need to lie on your side or your stomach. Make sure you have plenty of pillows and cushions. You’ll have to lay like this for the first two weeks at least, and optimally 6 weeks.

You’ll also need to avoid any high-impact activity for about four weeks, but walking is fine.

Since there will likely be some swelling, redness, and bruising, the results won’t immediately be noticeable. It can take up to a year to see the final results, but much of the results will be visible before then.

During those months of recovery, you may be advised to start a high-protein diet to help with healing. And at a certain point, you can begin to incorporate lower body exercises. They will aid in recovery and tone the area.

The best way to figure out if BBL surgery is right for you is to schedule a consultation with one of our board-certified plastic surgeons at Cosmetic Surgery Associates.

Plastic surgery is an industry with innovations happening every year. Procedures that used to be complicated may now be performed during your lunch hour. When it comes to BBLs or Brazilian Butt Lifts, this niche has seen substantial changes.

What is a BBL?

A Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) is actually two procedures in one. The main goal is to lift and enhance the rear area’s appearance. First, excess fat is removed from the flankls or abdomen using liposuction. These fat cells are then transferred into the buttocks to naturally lift and fill and enhance a patient’s backside. There’s no need for implants or any foreign materials to be placed into the body.

Breaking Down the BBL Process

To understand when local anesthesia can be used, it’s imperative to know what happens during a BBL. Doctors select the fat area to be accessed, and they numb the region. With the anesthesia going strong, they make a small incision in the skin and remove some fat. Doctors then strategically insert the fat into the hip dips and buttocks region.

This process continues until there’s enough fat moved into the new location. Typically, extra fat must be moved to the hip dips and buttocks in case of some tissue loss. The body will absorb a certain amount, which allows the remaining fat to form the rear-end look that you’re looking for.

Understanding Local Versus General Anesthetic

Because tissue must be accessed and moved from one area to another, anesthesia must be used. Depending on the complexity of the procedure, either type of anesthesia can be implemented.

Local Anesthesia

Local anesthesia involves numbing the immediate area to be worked on and you’re sedated during the procedure. Local anesthetic usually uses a numbing agent called lidocaine administered through an injection. In addition to this, we use oral and IV sedation to make the process comfortable.  Sedation can be selected when the amount of fat to be transferred is smaller such as when only the hip dips are augmented.

General Anesthesia

General anesthesia means the patient is completely asleep.  It is still safe for the patient. Patients are put to sleep under general anesthesia through IV sedation and an anesthesiologist is in monitoring and in control of your breathing during general anesthesia.  General anesthesia is used for larger fat transfers especially when volume is to be added to the buttocks for projection.

Opting for Local Anesthesia

Local anesthesia can be used for smaller fat transfers. If a patient may have something else being done during the allotted time, such as a tummy tuck or lower body lift then general anesthesia would definitely needed to be used.

Brazilian Butt Lift is a surgical procedure that consists of transferring fat from one part of the body to another. This process occurs through liposuction and transferring those cells via syringe or cannula to your buttocks area. The procedure can take up to four hours and is popular. Fat is harvested and transferred through small punctures that heal well. The recovery process varies from person to person. Here are some general guidelines which will help you have a faster, more comfortable recovery.

Take It Easy During the First Week

Your body will be healing from the surgery.   Try not to stress it any more than necessary. Take it easy during this week and avoid exercising. You can resume exercising with your doctors approval after the first week with light weights, but do not overdo it.

Keep Your Body Hydrated

There will be fluid shifts during and after surgery that require you to be well hydrated. Drink plenty of water during the first 24 hours to help with these shifts. Staying hydrated helps healing by allowing the tissues to be in optimal condition

Medications

You will be given specific instructions for all medications to be taken before and after surgery. You will want to stay away from anti inflammatory medications that can increase bleeding, such as aspirin and non steroidal (Aleve, Naprosyn), as well as melatonin, fish oil and flax seed. Your doctor or nurse will guide you through what and when to begin taking medicine.

Wear Your Compression Garment

Wearing your compression garment is important after the Brazilian Butt Lift procedure. It helps the healing process by keeping unwanted swelling at bay.   Ensure you wear it for at least two weeks after the surgery to decrease swelling in the area fat was harvested from.  Many people wear a garment longer as it feels good to them.

Follow Up with Your Doctor Regularly

Post operative visits will be scheduled at the time of surgery. Staying in touch allows us to help you achieve optimal results.

Get a Massage at Least Once a Week

Lymphatic massage (a light form of skin massage) can help you recover faster and decrease the time to optimal tissue healing. One or more massages a week for the first few weeks can speed up your healing.

Expect Some Swelling and Maybe Bruising

Swelling is a normal part of this procedure. This will stop with time and massage. You may also have some bruising in the buttock region from the fat transfer. It is usually mild and self limiting. Significant swelling or shortness of breath is reason to contact your surgeon.

Schedule a Consultation

To learn more about the Brazilian butt lift recovery or healing process, schedule a consultation with one of our experienced plastic surgeons. Call Cosmetic Surgery Associates at (301) 493-4334 or contact us online to schedule your appointment.

If you are unhappy with the shape and appearance of your buttocks, a Brazilian butt lift may be the right option for you. It uses your body’s own natural fat to improve the shape and size of your butt. You may wonder how long the procedure lasts due to it utilizing your own body fat.

Brazilian butt lifts can take as long as six months before you see the final results of the procedure. Of course, you must do your part to properly care for yourself to ensure that your results can last. It’s important to know how to do this and how you can prepare for the procedure.

Brazilian butt lifts use your own body fat

The Brazilian butt lift procedure is done using the latest cutting edge technology in liposuction to remove fat cells from a specific area of the body. Usually, this is a problem area that you wish to make smaller, such as the abdomen, thighs, hips or lower back. The fat cells are purified in preparation for the procedure and then injected into the buttocks.

While augmentation using butt implants is an invasive procedure, Brazilian butt lift is all natural and doesn’t use any foreign objects. However, if you truly want to maintain your results for as long as possible, you have to work at it. When you have an initial consultation with a plastic surgeon, you will discuss your options for preparing for the surgery and receive steps on aftercare to maintain your results.

Recovering from buttock augmentation

On average, it takes around six weeks to recover from a Brazilian butt lift. For the first two weeks after your surgery, you should avoid sitting or laying directly on your buttocks. It’s advised that you sleep on your side and sit on a pillow or rubber donut. You may even need to do the latter for eight weeks depending on your situation.

You should be able to go back to lighter activities seven days after your procedure and within seven to 10, return to work. Strenuous activities and exercise should be avoided until you have completely recovered, which usually happens by the sixth to eighth week. You will be required to return to the plastic surgery office for follow-ups while you recover.

Maintaining your results

You will have to take steps to retain the results from your Brazilian butt lift. You must maintain your weight to keep your results, which means living a healthy lifestyle by consuming a healthy diet and exercising regularly. Eat low-fat dairy and meats, plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, whole grains, and healthy fats. Avoid foods with empty calories and exercise at least three or four times per week if you can’t manage doing so daily.

Remember, it takes hard work on your part to maintain the results of your procedure, which can last up to 10 years. If you have trouble doing this, you may want to find a personal trainer or nutritionist to help.

If you are interested in getting a Brazilian butt lift, Cosmetic Surgery Associates in Bethesda, Maryland can help. You can meet with Dr. Jabs, Dr. Richards or Dr. Magge to discuss your options. Fill out the online contact form to schedule an initial consultation.

The Brazilian butt lift is becoming an increasingly popular option in the cosmetic surgery world, and it’s common to have some questions about it. If you’re looking for one of the best ways to improve your figure without the use of implants, then here’s what to know about this option as you schedule your consultation.

What Is a Brazilian Butt Lift?

A Brazilian butt lift is a surgical procedure that involves redistributing fat from stubborn areas and into the buttocks, improving the overall shape and contour of the lower body. Your cosmetic surgeon can transfer fat from areas like the hips, abdomen, lower back, or thighs via liposuction and use it to augment and reshape your buttocks as well as contour your overall figure by removing stubborn fat.

Why Have a Brazilian Butt Lift?

The truth is, genetics play a significant role in the distribution of body fat. Even with routine exercise and a healthy diet, you may not be able to achieve the shape that you want for your lower body. A Brazilian butt lift works by using your own fat to enhance curves, add fullness to flat buttocks, create a more fit and youthful appearance, help your clothing fit better, and give you a more balanced, hourglass figure.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Brazilian Butt Lift?

It’s important to have realistic expectations when it comes to cosmetic surgery. Some patients are better candidates for a particular procedure than others. You’re probably a good match for a Brazilian butt lift if:

  • You don’t want buttock implants
  • You have enough fat stores in your lower body for transfer
  • You have adequate skin tone in your lower body
  • You’re able to avoid sitting for several weeks post-surgery
  • You’re healthy enough to undergo surgery
  • You’re at a stable, healthy weight

What’s Involved in Brazilian Butt Lift Surgery?

First, your surgeon will use liposuction to extract fat from the hips, lower back, thighs, or abdomen. Next, the extracted fat is prepared for transfer. Lastly, the fat is injected into specific areas of the buttocks in order to re-mold it and add volume. This is typically an outpatient procedure, meaning you can return home afterward for your recovery.

Recovering After Your Brazilian Butt Lift

After surgery, you’ll need to adjust your lifestyle accordingly for a few weeks while your body heals. You’ll be prescribed medication for pain control, and it’s important not to sit or lie directly on your buttocks for about two to six weeks after the procedure. Next, you’ll start to practice sitting positions by placing a “donut” seat or pillow under your thighs. You can resume your normal activities after approximately eight weeks. Your final results will continue to refine and emerge as your body adapts to the new fat tissue, but you should begin to see your final results after several months.

The Brazilian butt lift is one of the best ways to enhance your figure and improve your confidence. To learn more, we invite you to meet with our team at Cosmetic Surgery Associates. Schedule a consultation by calling our Bethesda office or filling out our online form.
